Chapter One
I meet a bully, a hottie, and an overly excited girl.
“Well here we go again… another great year of school.” I said sarcastically. You see I’m not the smartest crayon in the box. I like to party! Now I’m stuck going to this private school called Mt. Olympus Prep. Sound familiar? Well it’s the training school for gods and goddesses in grades 9 through 12. You may also know who I am. My name is Dionysus.
“H man!” I blurted out while walking to the bus.
“Hey D.” he replied sleepily. H Man is also known as Hermes and we have been best friends and neighbors since diaper days. This, between you and me hasn’t been long since he wet the bed until he was 12. You see, Hermes and I clicked instantly. I throw the awesome parties and Hermes “gets” the supplies. Well if you knew Hermes, you would know he didn’t get them he mostly stole them but hey what do you expect from the God of thieves!
Now, we would both be freshmen in high school and we planned to throw even better parties. Well… that is if we could survive the first day. You see being new blood is not easy in mortal school but, for the Gods it’s twenty times worse! As we walked up to the front doors, it looked like an average high school but, the inside was huge! The ceiling was super high and had some ancient carvings on it. There were trophy’s carved in pure gold and silver and giant pillars holding the whole building up. I was so amazed by the whole thing that I hadn’t noticed that I walked into the wrong person. Ares.
“Where do you think you’re going!?” He asked sharply.
“I….Uh…I,” I mumbled.
“Huh! Don’t you talk!” He replied pushing me down and laughing. Luckily he just walked crushing my lunch of fresh grapes. As I got up I brushed off my shoulders and saw a motherly looking girl standing there. I was about to look for Hermes but she quickly stopped me.
“Ugh. don’t you just hate him?” She said.
“Uh . . . Yeah,” I mumbled. “Well I better go look for my friend.”
“You mean him?” She asked. I looked over to see Hermes staring blankly
at one of the most beautiful girls I’d ever seen.
“Thanks for waiting,” I said to my self. “Who is she?” I asked the girl.
“Only the most popular girl in school,” She replied “Her name’s Aphrodite and by the way my name is Hestia.”
“Oh I see. Well I better get going...” I said a little aggravated. She then told me good luck which I found strange and walked away.
“Yes, he’s the one.” She said to herself and walked away. I was about to ask what she was talking about but the bell rang. It was first period
Chapter 2
I Follow a Know-It-All and a Goth Kid to My Doom
Now remember when I said I wasn’t smart? Well there’s one exception. I’m a God at math. Well not literally a God but you know what I mean. So for the first period I got stuck with a bunch of nerds in honors math. As I walked into the class I felt the same awkwardness I did around Hestia. It kinda felt like I was on stage or being judged. I looked around and saw only one seat open next to a girl talking to a goth looking kid. They both looked worried and tensed. I sat down next to her and she spun around so quickly she almost pushed me out of my chair. I then saw her eyes and for a split second they looked like they were going to kill me. She then took a deep breath and spoke
“Hi my name is Athena,” She said high strung. “And you are?”
“I’m Dionysus.”
“Oh I’ve heard many great things about you.” She said. Now when a girl you’ve never even met tells you something like that you can either think one of two things. Either wow my older sibling did brag about me a lot or, ok some things not right here. Now I don’t have any siblings so something was going on but I didn’t have enough time to figure out what. Class started.
Class was pretty much boring. We talked about rules and took a pre test. I got a 64 percent and Athena, who said she is a senior and only taking this class for fun, got a 100 percent. Class was pretty much over so he let us talk. I started talking to Athena and I was about to ask about what she heard about me but the bell rang.
“Finally!” I rejoiced. I then looked over at my new friend Athena who was frozen in her seat.
“That’s not the bell. . .” She said worried.
“Get down! Now!” The teacher said. “I’ll be right back!” He then ran out of the room. Now that’s not how I expected a high school teacher to act in a room with terrified freshman students during some sort of a disaster.
“What do we do?!” Athena said to the goth kid.
“I have no clue! I didn’t think today!” He replied.
“Do we go with the plan?!” She said hyperventilating.
“Calm down Athena. Everything’ll be fine,” The boy said. “Let’s just go see what’s going on. Just relax.”
“No! It’s not worth it Hades!” She said doubtful. “They’ll pulverize us and we’ll all be sent to Tartarus and forced to an eternity of torture!” After hearing that I started leaning on Athena’s side of them not going.
“We can’t give up hope Athena. You’re the Goddess of Wisdom. You know this is the right thing.” the Hades boy said. Athena then kissed Hades. Surprisingly of all the crazy things I heard and saw through the hour I was in school the kiss actually shocked me the most. They then ran out the door and I was dumb enough to follow my new friends.
Chapter 3
I Find Out That I Will Murder Some Kids I Never Even Met In My Near Future
I quietly followed Athena and Hades as they were sprinting to the gym. As we got closer I could hear screams, loud crashes, and sword fights. As they stopped to plan, I slipped on the grapes Ares crushed, and I went down hard. If we weren’t in mortal danger, I would’ve been totally embarrassed. Athena and Hades thought it was hilarious though. They bursted into laughter at the sight of me falling on face. Then they realized what I’d done.
“Wait. . . What are you doing here!?” Athena said catching her breath after her outburst of laughter..
“Well I. . . Uh I was worried about you guys.” I confessed.
“Well there’s nothing to worry about just get back to class.” Hades said.
“But I can help!” I whined.
“You don’t even know who were up against!” Hades protested. “We’re fighting Kronus and the Titans.”
“You mean THE Titans!? Like the rulers!?” I said shocked.
“Yes but they may also look familiar.” Athena said. I peered into the window and to my surprise I noticed that they were the faculty.
“Ok seriously can someone explain to me what’s going on!” I asked confussed.
“There’s not enough time.” Hades said. “Just stay here! It’s to dangerous for you.”
“I disagree,” Athena added.
“You think a battlefield like that is for such a . . . a minor god as him!” Hades argued.
“Yes. He shall learn his abilities and weaknesses in battle. You know the prophecy Apollo foretold.” Athena added.
“But you know what will happen to Apollo and Artemis! . . . ” Hades mumbled. “We can’t let that happen!”
“If he doesn’t fight, we will all fail and will pay the price!”
“Uh can someone fill me in on the prophecy?” I chimed in. They then discussed on whether or not they should let me know. Athena then recited:
The fight will take place on grounds well known,
A traitors true side will be truly shown,
A true god must be born in order to win,
but at the expense of the archery twins,
one side will rise the other will fall,
But both will loose what’s most important to all.
“So you think the true god parts about me?” I asked.
“Yes.” They both said in unison.
“So now what?” I asked.
“You go get some recruits and we fight.” Athena tried to say confidently but failed.
“But...” Hades protested but we were on our ways.
Chapter 4
Thieves and Drunks Are Heroes Too!
I ran through the school looking for recruits but the only ones I could find were this kid Poseidon, the overly excited girl Hestia, and sadly the twin archers, Apollo and Artemis. I knew Apollo knew their fate but Artemis just looked so hopeful and happy. I felt miserable knowing that it was my fault that they were going to be sacrificed. The four people I recruited filled me in on everyone who was fighting and how they were waiting for someone to come to get them, to let them know when to start fighting. I was that person. Then the person I was hoping I would not see came walking out of the bathroom. It was Hermes.
“Hey Dionysus!” He exclaimed.
“Hey Hermes . . . ” I mumbled not excited at all.
“What are you doing!?” He asked.
“Oh just helping some kids.” I said
“He’s bringing us to fight the Titans in the gym.” Hestia added.
“Oh great.” I thought. “My best friend risking his life in a fight that he doesn’t even need to be in. Maybe he won’t want to join . . .”
“Cool! can I come?” He asked excitedly. I was about to say no but Poseidon beat me to it.
“If you’re prepared, then yes.” He said.
“Cool then I’m in.” Hermes said dancing over to our group. Then Artemis realized what was going on.
“Wait a minute! I know who you are! You’re Dionysus! The God of Wine and you’re Hermes you’re the God of Thieves! Great. Just great, We’re being led by a drunk.” She said rudely.
“May I have you know that I am also the God of Theater and the Grape?!” I said defensively.
“Whatever.” She said not knowing what to say back. After our little argument we were almost to the gym, but then we were faced with our first challenge.
Chapter 5
We Try and Drown a God in Toilet Water
It was Ares the, God of War. He told us to get to the fight we had to prove our selves worthy.
“Shouldn’t you be fighting?!” Poseidon complained.
“There’s uh . . . no time to explain.” He said nervously. Poseidon then stepped up first, arguing they needed him the most. Then the test began.
Poseidon snapped his fingers and all of a sudden water shot out from under the ground beneath Ares but Ares was too quick and lunged at Poseidon with his sword and cut Poseidon’s left shoulder blade.
“Come on Ares! Go easy on us!” Poseidon whined.
“I shall not!” Ares boomed with a demonic tone. “Only the true warriors shall pass. They then proceeded to fight. AS they were fighting, Hestia came up with a brilliant plan so we thought.
“Ok Hermes you fly over Ares and distract him and Poseidon and Hades will go behind him and attack while Dionysus and I go to the gym.” Hestia planned.
“What about the twins?” I questioned concerned for their lives.
“We have to get them to safety but they must also fight . . . ” Hestia said worried. I then realized that they were already trying to fight Ares and Hermes was flying over him hitting him in the head with his caduceus. Ares boomed with anger and swatted Hermes out of the sky like a helpless fly. I then realized he wasn’t “testing” us he was the traitor from the prophecy.
Ares then grabbed Hestia and threw her against the wall. Now two of my friends were injured,. Apollo ran over to aid them but Ares tripped him. It was up to Artemis, Poseidon, and me. Artemis ran to help her brother and the others while Poseidon and I tried to battle Ares. Poseidon kept blasting him with water while I held him back with my vines. It wasn’t working.
“Artemis! Get them out of here! There is only one way I can stop him!” Poseidon noted.
“Are you sure!?” She asked nervously.
“Yes! Just get them away!” Poseidon said impatient. Artemis and Apollo carried Hermes and Hestia away and I stayed with Poseidon.
“We have to lure him into the bathroom!” Poseidon whispered. We then both ran into the bathroom and Ares came barreling after. I locked the door after he ran in and I concentrated on vines that could hold the strongest god in the world. I finally tied him down and Poseidon bursted the pipes. He was trying to drown Ares. Ares then started breaking through the vines so I wrapped more around him and then more. Then I had a brilliant idea and I turned the water into wine. Ares was finally intoxicated and drowning more and more as the seconds passed. He kept trying to break through the vines but was to drunk to control his strength. He was defeated and Poseidon and I got out before we were trapped in the bathroom.
Chapter 6
It's The Final Countdown!
After Poseidon and I defeated Ares we went to find where the rest of the recruits were. I then turned the corner to find Hermes and Hestia tied up. I ran down the hall screaming at Artemis and Apollo.
“What are you doing?!” I screamed. The two twins turned around and I saw that it wasn’t Apollo and Artemis. It was Kronus and Atlas in disguise smiling an evil smile. I backed away in fear as Kronus started to speak.
“Well well well... If it isn’t our young heroes. I’m glad you guys could join us,” Kronus said in an evil tone.
“Where are Artemis and Apollo?” I asked trying to be confident.
“Oh those troublemakers? Rhea took them. She’s getting them ready for their eternal detention in Tartarus” he said evilly.
“Now Atlas. What do you think we should do with these two?” Kronus asked.
“Hm. . . How about for the little fireplace girl she will eternally be on fire and for the messenger we make him deliver boulders.” He replied.
“Ooh! I love the irony in that,” Kronus said cheerfully. “And for these two?”
“The drunk will have to squish hot coals like wine grapes and the water boy will have to swim 1,000 laps with a ten-ton weight on in flesh eating piranha infested water daily.”
“Sounds great,” Kronus said excitedly. “But I first must finish you off.”
“Shouldn’t you be helping them in the gym?” Poseidon asked confused.
“Ah, but no. You see, we won already. Everyone else has been destroyed. You worthless little brats are the last ones left.” Atlas explained. I then realized my new friends Athena and Hades were now in Tartarus for an eternity of suffering, and we would too in a matter of seconds.
“Wait? We couldn’t have lost. The prophecy said a true God must be born in order to win and I became a true god didn’t I?” I said confused.
“Jeez talk about cocky over there. He thinks he’s a true God,” Kronus said laughing. “Well enough with the questions, let’s get this show on the rode!” Kronus swung back his sickle and tore a huge hole in the ground and Poseidon and I fell straight into Tartarus.
Chapter 7
And Then There Were Two
“Nooooo! I shouted at the sight of my best friend falling to his eternal suffering.
“Hermes, It’s ok . . . their fate is the same as ours all we know is we tried our hardest.” Hestia said to me.
“Awww, isn’t that cute Atlas?” Kronus said sarcastically.
“Haha yeah. We have a little romance here!” Atlas responded.
“I never thought of it but in the 2 hours of doom I have spent with Hestia I really have grown to like her a lot. I had to try and do something to save us.” I thought to myself. I then thought of an idea.
“Come on Kronus just do it already!” Atlas pleaded.
“Fine . . . Fine.” he said.
Kronus then raised his sickle just as before but before he could swing down I pulled my arms out of the ropes and grabbed it out of his hands.
“That’s how the God of Thieves does it!” I said excited. I then quickly lowered the sickle into the ground and made a hole just as Kronus had an sent them on a one way trip to Tartarus. After the hole filled back up I ran over to Hestia and untied her and gave her the biggest hug in the world. We both began to cry over the loss of our best friends and just sat in the middle of the floor sobbing for the rest of the day.
- - -
The next morning we had no clue on what we were going to do. The other ten Titans were still out there somewhere. Hestia then explained that the prophecy has been fulfilled already though and that we won.
“Oh, can you tell me what the prophecy is?” I asked wanting to change the subject.
“Sure.” She then recited the prophecy and explained each part.
The fight will take place on grounds well know,(the gym)
At traitors true side will be truly shown, (Ares)
A true god must be born in order to win,(Hermes)
but at the expense of the archery twins,(Artemis and Apollo were sent to Taratarus)
one side will rise the other will fall,(We won the Titans fell)
but both will loose what’s most important to all. (The titans lost the battle but we lost our friends)
“With the loss of Kronus the rest of the Titans have already surrendered. Although they will train and get stronger and eventually Kronus will return so we must form our own army and train and get stronger.” She said.
“Well let’s just focus on the present and saving our friends.” I said.
“I agree.” She said. We then both walked through the school that was in ruins for one last time. I then walked into boy’s bathroom and found Ares standing in the middle of the bathroom with the face of revenge and an evil smile just like Kronus’s on his face.
I meet a bully, a hottie, and an overly excited girl.
“Well here we go again… another great year of school.” I said sarcastically. You see I’m not the smartest crayon in the box. I like to party! Now I’m stuck going to this private school called Mt. After the hole filled back up I ran over to Hestia and untied her and gave her the biggest hug in the world. We both began to cry over the loss of our best friends and just sat in the middle of the floor sobbing for the rest of the day.
